Nothing to refinishNo painting, staining or sanding. Ever. Soap and water when it needs it.
Colour all the way throughPigment is in the material, not on it. A scratch is the same colour underneath.
Out all yearRain, snow, full sun. It absorbs no water, so nothing rots, cracks or freezes.
Wood vs. Greens.ly

Wood fades. Greens.ly lasts.

Same chair, same lake, same three summers. Wood greys, cracks and wants re-staining every spring. Ours looks like the day it arrived.

A wood chair and a Greens.ly chair side by side when new, after one, two and three seasons: the wood greys and cracks, the Greens.ly chair stays the same colour

How it’s made

From recycled plastic to a chair built to outlast you.

Our chairs start as household plastic — milk jugs, mostly — not as timber. Unlike wood, HDPE does not rely on paint, stain or a surface coating for its protection. The colour is part of the board itself.

  1. 1Recycled material

Post-consumer HDPE is collected, washed and shredded into flake, then processed into poly lumber made for outdoor use.

  2. 2Colour throughout

Pigment is mixed into the material rather than painted onto a finished board, so everyday scuffs are far less visible than they would be on a painted surface.

  3. 3Precision-cut components

Each board is cut and profiled into the fourteen parts that make up the seat, fan back, arms, legs and structural supports.

  4. 4Strong outdoor construction

Components are assembled with exterior-grade stainless steel screws and carriage bolts at reinforced connection points.

  5. 5Finished and inspected

Every chair is checked for alignment, stability, hardware and finish, then flat-packed with its hardware for delivery.

The result: the look and comfort of a traditional Muskoka chair, without the sanding, staining and refinishing that come with wood.

Care

Very little maintenance. That is the point.

Recycled HDPE poly lumber exists to make outdoor furniture easier to own. It needs no seasonal staining, painting or sealing, and the colour is moulded through the whole board rather than applied to the surface.

Routine cleaning

  1. Rinse the loose dirt off.
  2. Wash with warm water and mild soap.
  3. Use a soft cloth, sponge or soft-bristle brush.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  5. Let it air dry.

Once or twice a season is usually enough for normal use.

Tougher marks

Use a soft brush with mild soap and water. Avoid solvents, harsh chemicals, steel wool and heavily abrasive pads — they can dull the surface.

Leaving it out

The chair is built for outdoor conditions and can stay outside all year. For the best long-term look, clear off heavy dirt and debris now and then, and avoid leaving staining materials sitting on it.

No annual refinishing

No sanding. No staining. No painting. No sealing.
Clean it when it needs it, and otherwise leave it alone.

The material is UV-stabilised, so the colour holds its depth season after season. A scuff on an arm is the same colour underneath — there is no finish to wear through.

Production. About 3–6 weeks. We keep material in every colour, and the weeks go into making your chair: it is cut, finished and checked for your order, then packed flat. We confirm the timeline with you before anything is built, and email you at every stage.

Delivery. Free, and included in the price you see — no shipping line at checkout and nothing to pay at the door. Your chair ships flat, in one carton with the hardware and instructions inside — it is quicker, safer and cheaper to ship that way, and nothing arrives scuffed. Assembly takes about 20 minutes. Tracking is available online the whole way.

Questions people ask us

Is plastic really better than wood outside?
For a chair that lives outside, yes. Wood survives on a coating, and the coating is what fails — peel, sand, restain, every year. HDPE needs no coating: it cannot absorb water, so it cannot rot, and the colour is inside the material, so it cannot peel. 20-year warranty. Most wood chairs don’t reach ten.
What makes it worth $299?
It is not a lightweight resin chair. It is built from solid 1-inch boards of recycled HDPE — about 500+ milk jugs per chair — held together with stainless steel screws and carriage bolts. It will not rot, peel or need staining, and it is covered for 20 years. A cheaper chair that cracks after a few summers ends up costing more.
Will I pay VAT or customs when it arrives?
No. The price you see includes VAT and import duties, and delivery is free. There is nothing to pay on delivery: no customs bill, no courier fee.
Will it fade?
It is UV-stabilised and the pigment runs right through the board. There is no surface finish, so there is nothing to wear through — a scuff is the same colour underneath.
Why does it take 3–6 weeks?
Because it is built for you, not pulled off a shelf. Your delivery window comes in writing before we build, and you can cancel free until then. Order today and it should arrive in about 3–6 weeks.
What if I don’t like it?
Before production: 100% back. After delivery: 30 days — we book the pickup and pay the return shipping. No restocking fee. The refund goes to the card you paid with.
How hard is assembly?
About 20 minutes. Every bolt and the stainless hardware are in the carton. A screwdriver or a drill is all you need.
Do the dark colours get hot in the sun?
Warm, yes — every dark outdoor surface does. In shade or in the evening it is fine; in direct midday sun a thin cushion or a towel settles it. If the chair will live in full sun all day, Light Grey, Sand or White stay cool.
Is it hard to get out of?
A little, on purpose: the seat reclines and sits low, which is why it is comfortable for hours. Push down on the arms — they are wide for exactly that — and it is one smooth move. For knees that object to a 15-inch seat, a firm cushion adds two inches and changes everything.
Is it comfortable without cushions?
That is the shape — a deep contoured seat, a gently reclined back and 5½-inch arms. Add the matching ottoman if you want your feet up.
