7 things nobody tells you before you buy a Muskoka chair
Seven things, one of which is that it is hard to get out of.
- It is a little hard to get out of. That is the recline working. Push down on the arms; they are there for it. The technique.
- The screws matter more than the boards. Plated screws streak rust down a chair in two summers. Stainless or nothing.
- Weight is a feature. A 38-lb chair stays on the deck in a gale. A 15-lb one is in the pool.
- Dark colours get warm in the sun. Every dark outdoor surface does. Pale for the pool deck; dark for the fire pit.
- Wood looks better for exactly one summer. Then it costs you a Saturday a year. The picture.
- You will end up with more than one. Two, then four. Buy them as a set and every chair is cheaper. Sets.
- The ottoman is not a footstool. It is angled to continue the seat, and it is the difference between a chair and a lounger.
