How heavy is an Adirondack chair, and why that's the point
About 38 pounds. On purpose.
Solid poly lumber weighs a little more than a dense hardwood, and a chair made of it comes in around 38 lb. That is roughly double a cedar chair, three to four times a resin one, and about the same as a steel one.
Why heavy is right
An outdoor chair lives where the wind does. A light chair walks across a deck, tips into a pool, and on a dock ends up in the lake. A chair that weighs what a small adult's suitcase weighs stays exactly where you put it through a squall. The weight is also solid board, which is why the chair does not flex, creak or crack.
Moving it
Tip it back onto the rear of the arms and walk it, or lift it by the arms with the back against your chest. One person moves a chair easily across a deck; two carry one down stairs comfortably. Moving six across a lawn for the mower is the one chore this chair gives you.
Weight capacity
The chair is rated to 350 lb (160 kg) for residential use, and we test well beyond it. The capacity page.
